Exciting news! Laurier is hosting its 1st -ever Read-A-Thon!

A read-a-thon is a fundraising event where students read to gather pledges or donations from family and friends for the school. It’s like reading with a purpose! The funds raised will enrich student learning with valuable materials.

This event not only benefits our school but is also incredibly rewarding for our kids! It offers a wonderful chance for our children to take pride in their contributions. We encourage you to assist your child in setting and achieving their goals, fostering both academic growth and a sense of accomplishment.

Details

The Sir Wilfrid Laurier PAC (Parent Advisory Council) is kicking off our 2025 Direct Appeal Campaign. This year, we are seeking to raise $10,000 in hopes of offering  sports equipment, technology upgrades and other learning supports for our school. Parents typically donate $50 - $100 for each child at Laurier, equivalent to $5-$10 per month of the school year. 

This year’s direct appeal aims to provide:

• Classroom Support: PAC provides funding each year to teachers for programs and supplies to supplement what is provided by the VSB.  
• Technology: Continuing efforts to upgrade technology available as a learning tool in the classroom.  This year, the PAC has been requested to fund two tablets per classroom, allowing teachers to offer differentiated learning.
• Sports Equipment: The PAC has been requested to fund new basketball hoops near the South building to offer more playing courts
• The PAC has also received requests from Laurier teachers for continued support of the SOAR Committee, garden supplies, and new learning commons furniture in the South Building.

We realize everyone’s financial situation is different - you do not have to contribute. If you are able to donate, any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated! Friends and family can donate, too.

Making a Donation
Cash, Cheques, e-Transfer: We’re happy to accept donations via cash, cheque, or Interac transfer. Though such donations become immediately available for the remainder of this year’s budget, they are not eligible for a tax receipt from VSB. For e-Transfer, please send to [email protected] with message “Direct appeal 2025”. For cash or cheque donations, please deliver in a sealed envelope to the school office addressed to Laurier PAC. Make cheques out to “Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary PAC”.

**Easily donate using School Cash Online (https://vsb.schoolcashonline.com) - the same site used for school fees. After logging in, select the “Make a Donation” button and set Fund Destination to “Sir Wilfrid Laurier PAC”, and enter “2025 Direct Appeal” in the message field. Donations made through School Cash Online may not become available for PAC until mid-March or later. **VSB will provide a 2025 Tax Receipt for all donations over $20 made through School Cash Online.
