Children’s Book Recycling Project @Laurier
1000 x 5 - Book Drive
The Rotary Club of Vancouver Arbutus and the Vancouver School Board Early Learning Department are working to get books into the hands of children from zero to five years old - they want kids to enjoy 1,000 books before kindergarten!
Our school has volunteered to collect books for this good cause! We are collecting gently used books. Early Reading Books, like board books and picture books are especially welcomed. Clean out your bookshelves and have your kids donate the books into the yellow box labelled "Book Drive” by the office.
Opens - Monday, February 6th
Last Day - Friday, February 24th
If you cannot make it to the school and wish to have the books collected from you, please email [email protected] to set up a time with their coordinator.
Lets help kids read more before Kindergarten!

Laurier PAC is hosting a Spring Neighbourhood Cleanup Party!
We had so much fun at the first Neighbourhood Cleanup Party that we had requests for another – when the weather was better.
Come out and join in a bit of cleanup and a chance to get together.
When: Saturday April 30, 2022 2 – 4 pm
Where: Meet at the school, collect your tools and head out into the neighbourhood around the school. Meet back by 4pm to return your tools and collected litter.
During COVID-19, all volunteers must follow physical distancing and safety protocols outlined in the City’s safety guidelines. This includes collecting the names and contact information for all participants. This is an activity suitable for kids of all ages and their families.
Parents are responsible for supervising their children – this is not a drop-off event.
Please register on this google form by April 23 so we know how many supplies to request from the city https://forms.gle/929aQRsR32kiSyGj8.
If you can help/volunteer with handing out or collecting supplies, please sign up on our here https://volunteersignup.org/KYE7B.

2nd Raffle !
Laurier PAC is running its 2nd Raffle Fundraiser during May - you could win up to $500 cash!
Please view details in these two posts on our Facebook page: Happy 2021! To end off the school year, we are hosting a 2nd raffle during May - you could win up to $500 cash!
** What is a "50-50 Raffle"? **
It's a simple and fun lottery where all ticket money are pooled together into one pot, the raffle draw winner gets 50% of the final pot and the other 50% are applied to all Laurier students via funding classroom supplies and Earthbites.
** Ticket Prices **
Single ticket = $2 for 1 ticket
Ticket pack = $5 for 3 tickets
** How to buy the raffle tickets **
** FAQ **
* Who can join the raffle?* Anyone! This is not limited to just students/parents/guardians. Feel free to forward the information to grandparents, friends, co-workers, neighbours, etc.
* What if I'm buying tickets for a friend or on someone else's behalf? * The registration form must match the person making the Interac e-Transfer, so enter your name in the registration form and OPTIONALLY use the "comments" field to specify who the final ticket holder is. The PAC will only deal with you, the person who made the e-Transfer; it is totally up to you on how you want to keep your friend up to date on the raffle draw, and how to transfer the prize money from you to s/he if s/he is the winner.
* When is the raffle draw? * 630pm Wed May 26, 2021, at the PAC meeting which will be hosted on Zoom.
* Do I need to be present to win? * No, the PAC will contact the winner after the draw. But it'll be fun to see the drawing live so please join if you can!
* How will I be notified if I win? *The PAC will contact you via the phone/email entered in the registration form.
* How will I get the prize money if I win?* The PAC will write a cheque out to you, hand-delivered at the school.
* How much is the prize money? * 50% of all ticket revenue. Our raffle license allows up to $1000 revenue per event, which means up to $500 prize money per draw. For example, if we sell $500 worth of tickets, then the prize money will be $250.
* How will the prize money be distributed?* There is one big winner in a 50-50 draw. That one winner gets 50% of the pot. Prize money will be distributed via a cheque.
* Where is the other 50% of the pot going? * All of it will be applied to benefit Laurier students via funding classroom supplies and Earthbites. The PAC is run by volunteer parents and has no administrative costs; all funds raised are used to enhance student learning at Laurier.
* Can I buy multiple times? * Yes, just follow the same steps each time. In other words, ensure each Interac e-Transfer is registered with an entry in https://tinyurl.com/LaurierRaffle2021.
* Can I donate the prize money? * Yes. By law we must transfer the prize money to the winner. What you do with the money is totally up to you - if you donate it to Laurier PAC or another charity, that's a separate independent transaction.
* Can I register first then pay later?* No. Registrations are valid only with a matching Interac e-Transfer.
* Can I pay by cash or cheque?* Interac e-Transfer is strongly preferred due to COVID-19 prevention. Please contact a member of the PAC (or email [email protected]) if you'd like to meet to pay by cash/cheque.
